Where downloaded videos go on iPhone (and how to save them to Photos)
This is the number one question from people downloading videos on iPhone: the download finishes, but the video doesn't show up in Photos. That's because Safari stores downloads in the Files app, not in your gallery. Here's how to find and move it.
1. Find the video in the Files app
- Open the Files app (blue folder icon).
- Tap Browse and then Downloads. If it's not there, look in On My iPhone → Downloads or iCloud Drive → Downloads.
Shortcut: in Safari, tap the down arrow icon in the address bar to see recent downloads.
2. Move it to Photos
- Tap the video to open it.
- Tap Share (square with an up arrow).
- Choose Save Video.
Done: the video shows up in the Photos app under Recents.
Video won't open or has no picture?
Some videos come in formats the iPhone can't play (like AV1 or VP9). SaveVidz automatically converts them to H.264, which works on every iPhone. If you still have trouble, download again in a lower quality (720p).
What about MP3 files?
They're in the same place, Files → Downloads, and play right from there.
